In recent years, our product portfolio has undergone a successful switch to low-CO2 cements. By 2007, the proportion of consolidated cement sales of traditional Portland cements in comparison to composite cements containing special mineral components as well as clinker and gypsum fell to less than 30 percent, nearly half that of 1995.
One example from our eco-efficient product range is CEMROC®, a building material that is produced by adding extra components to a slag cement. CEMROC® combines very low CO2 emissions during production with a final concrete product that shows exceptional resistance to chemical agents and aggressive environmental conditions, giving it exemplary durability and service life.
Another product, comparable with CEMROC® in terms of environmental impact and use, is based on a by-product of coal-fired power plants, and is already at an advanced stage of development.
